Practice
Malia’s practice focuses on civil litigation and dispute resolution.
Born and raised here in Salem, Malia is proud to serve businesses and community members throughout the Willamette Valley and across Oregon. She brings a thoughtful, practical approach to her work and believes that effective representation begins with listening to the client’s story. By taking the time to understand each client’s circumstances, goals, and concerns, Malia works to develop strategies tailored to that client’s unique set of needs.
Malia earned her undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Oregon and she received her JD from Willamette University College of Law. Before joining Sherman Sherman Johnnie & Hoyt, Malia worked in the Portland area representing low-income and at-risk individuals with civil legal matters, including housing, traffic court, post-conviction relief, and civil commitment. This work has given Malia a strong foundation navigating high-stakes legal issues while keeping the needs of the client as the focus of her advocacy.
Outside the office, Malia enjoys exploring Oregon’s natural wonders with friends and family and spending time on the water with her paddle board. When she’s not out exploring, you’ll find her at home either baking, reading, crafting, or relaxing with her partner and her two cats, Pancake and Bean.
