Practice
Lane Shetterly began his law practice in in Dallas, Oregon in 1981.
From 2004 through August, 2007, Lane was the director of the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development.
Prior to his appointment to the department, Lane served seven years in the Oregon Legislature. He served as Speaker pro tem of the House from 2001 until he resigned to become director of DLCD. He returned to his law practice in 2007.
Lane’s areas of practice include estate planning and administration, small business, property transactions and municipal law.
Lane volunteers his service on the boards of several nonprofit organizations in Oregon including Salem Health, Dallas Community Foundation, Polk Community Development Corporation, and serves as chair of the Oregon Community Foundation. Lane was chair of the Oregon Law Commission for 21 years, until 2019. He is currently a member from Oregon on the national Uniform Law Commission, a position he holds by appointment of the Governor.
Lane was born in Dallas. He graduated with honors from Western Oregon University (Oregon College of Education) in 1977 with a BS in Education, and with honors from Northwestern School of Law, Lewis and Clark College, in 1981.
He is married to Francine, a staff attorney at the Oregon Court of Appeals.
In his spare time Lane enjoys running and music. He has completed six Hood to Coast Relays and four marathons and has performed with the Portland Opera Chorus at Carnegie Hall.
